Fighting the Battle of the Bulge, Naturally?
By Tanesha Robinson

April 28, 2000

During the increasing popularity of Phen-Fen a few years ago, my doctor gave me a prescription for the drug along with a lecture on the dangers of being overweight.  By possible divine intervention, I loss my sense of direction, while driving, and never made it to the clinic that would have introduced me to a world of unnatural diet loss. After the Phen-Fen "danger drama" hit the news, I was asked nonchalantly by my doctor if I had participated in the diet.  My questions of what would have or could have happened still have gone unanswered.

If you are trying to lose weight and you are confused about the abundance of so-called "all natural" diet pills, don't rely on the popularity of the product or what a doctor or friend might prescribe for you.  No one cares about your health and well being more than you.  Take the time to research before you engage in something that could possibly harm you in the long run.

I almost took Metabolife.  Then all the controversy surrounding this drug caused me to rethink using pills as a means of weight loss.  There is now an all natural pill called Metabo-LITE in stores.  All the hype of natural drugs led me to the possibility that maybe the only way to lose weight naturally is to do it with healthy eating and exercise.  Changing your eating habits can be beneficial in a long-term healthy lifestyle.

The question you might want to ask is whether using a natural weight loss remedy for immediate weight loss with a continuing healthy lifestyle will do more harm than good to your system?  You will find answers to some of your questions on www.gnc.com . The General Nutrition Center (GNC) site states that "diets that are low in total calories may not contain adequate amounts of various vitamins and minerals."  Therefore new products such as all natural Dexatrim, Chromi-Slim and Enforma Fat Trapper Plus, while suppressing appetites can cause the body to receive inadequate vitamin dosages.  The GNC site and many of the products recommend taking vitamin and mineral supplements along with dietary pills.

My Father is taking the Enforma Fat Trapper Plus and the Enforma Exercise in a Bottle.  Isn't all this just hype or a lose weight quick scheme?  I've learned from my experiences and I'm going to see what happens to him before I take anything.  While the product is used to block fat from being absorbed by the body, I wonder don't we need some of this fat for nutrition in order to survive?  Then there is my big question of what happens after you lose the weight and stop taking the pills, will you start gaining all the weight back?

The GNC site helps ease my mind by explaining several of the dietary supplements and what products aid weight loss.  Now don't let my paranoia stop you from trying a dietary product because being obese is very unhealthy in itself.  Yet, you don't want more medical problems compounded on top of this one, so please research any product before you use it.  Weigh the pros and cons and then decide for yourself, and remember that nothing is proven to work in every individual.
